Wheel Chock Vehicle Restraint
Background
There are many accidents worldwide involving a lorry pulling away from a loading bay before a forklift truck has finished unloading its contents.
The Brief
To design and prototype a low cost, easy to use, mechanical wheel chock system. It had to release a key when locked on to the wheel, and release the chock when the key was reintroduced. It also had to cater for different sized wheels.
The Solution
We solved the problem using a simple torsion bar arrangement as the key release mechanism, and a sliding / jam arrangement to compensate for the different sized wheels.
